About this position

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to high-quality research and public dissemination in contemporary history, with a particular emphasis on digital methods and tools. The centre aims to innovate in the teaching and presentation of Luxembourg and European history from the 20th and 21st centuries, fostering creative scholarship and new forms of public engagement. The successful candidate will conduct independent research within the 'Digital History & Historiography' axes, contribute to the development of training materials and workshops for MA and doctoral students, participate in interdisciplinary 'trading zone initiatives,' publish in high-impact journals, present at international conferences, and assist in supporting and coordinating the research activities of the C²DH director.

Applicants should hold a PhD in History, Digital Humanities, Data Science, or a related field, and possess a strong interest in digital history, machine learning, data visualization, and digital hermeneutics. Additional interests in media history or history of technology are advantageous. Fluency in English and good knowledge of French or German are required, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to organize work effectively.

The position offers a fixed-term contract of 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176. The University of Luxembourg provides a modern, multilingual, and international environment, with high-quality equipment and strong ties to both the business world and the Luxembourg labour market. The institution values inclusivity and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.

The work location is Belval Campus, Esch-sur-Alzette. To apply, candidates must submit their application online via the HR system, including a CV, cover letter, list of publications and projects, and copies of diplomas.
