About this position

The Institute of Physics at the University of Amsterdam is offering the Els Koffeman Postdoctoral Fellowship for excellent researchers from underrepresented groups in experimental physics and theoretical physics.

This is a prestigious personal grant for an independent postdoctoral researcher to conduct high-quality research in a physics topic of their choice. The post also includes opportunities to contribute to the supervision of PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s students.

Research areas: applied physics, quantum mechanics, and broader physics/astronomy topics within the IoP research environment.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in Physics or a closely related field and have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and academic books. The fellowship is intended for candidates likely to be underrepresented at faculty level, including minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ people, and women.

Funding: 36-month temporary employment contract, 38 hours/week, gross monthly salary €3,706–€5,760 (Scale 10), plus holiday allowance and year-end allowance. A 30% ruling may apply to non-Dutch applicants.
