The successful candidate will develop functional tissue models by integrating high-resolution 3D bioprinting with in situ perfusion systems, enabling direct graft maturation.
Research goals include creating printable hydrogel systems for high-resolution scaffolds, designing microfluidic systems for tissue viability monitoring, and testing tissue functionality in response to inflammatory stimuli or therapeutic drugs. The project involves collaboration with other doctoral students, academic institutions, and industry, including short research stays at Brinter (Finland) and Uppsala University (Sweden). Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field and demonstrate expertise in computational fluid dynamics, cell culture, molecular biology, bioprinting materials, and biological evaluation of tissue constructs.
The position requires compliance with MSCA mobility rules and offers a fixed-salary PhD contract funded by the MSCA Print4Life network. To be eligible for MSCA, candidates must not have a doctoral degree at the date of recruitment, must be enrolled in a doctoral program, and must comply with the mobility rule (not have resided or carried out main activity in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to recruitment).
