About this position
This research opportunity is based in the Office of Immunology and Inflammation, Office of New Drugs, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The project focuses on the statistical evaluation of TD50 and benchmark dose approaches for deriving acceptable intakes of carcinogenic impurities. The appointed participant will use simulation studies to examine how these approaches perform and to help build a stronger statistical basis for interpreting TD50- and BMD-based acceptable intakes in regulatory risk assessment.
Under mentor Meiyu Shen, the participant will gain experience in quantitative cancer risk assessment, carcinogenic impurities acceptable-intake derivation, TD50 methods, benchmark dose modeling, model averaging, uncertainty assessment, and communicating statistical findings in a multidisciplinary regulatory-science environment.
The opportunity is framed within FDA/CDER’s broader mission of supporting the availability of safe and effective drugs, including over-the-counter and prescription products, biological therapeutics, and generic drugs.
