About this position
Brandeis University’s Department of Music and Interdepartmental Program in Engineering Science are offering a cross-disciplinary postdoctoral fellowship in Computer Music and Engineering. The role is designed for an early-career scholar whose work bridges music, engineering, and creative technology through exploratory and collaborative research.
The fellow will contribute to teaching and research across both units, with teaching that may include courses such as introductory electro-acoustic music, electronic music composition and production, and upper-level technical electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. The position emphasizes building connections across the Sciences and the Creative Arts at Brandeis and in public-facing contexts.
Research interests highlighted for the fellowship include human/machine music-making, signal processing, and instrument and interface design. The successful candidate is expected to work in ways that connect with Brandeis’s existing ecosystem, including the Brandeis Electro-Acoustic Music Studio (BEAMS), the MakerLab, the Sound and Image Media Studio, the Automation Lab, and expanding engineering facilities.
The fellowship is framed as a lecturer-rank appointment and is intended to support scholarship that combines creative practice with technological innovation, alongside broader engagement with music and engineering at the university.
