Fully Funded GIST Global Intern Program (GIP) Summer Research Internship for Undergraduate Seniors and Master's Students in STEM Fields Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea

The GIST Global Intern Program (GIP) is a prestigious, fully funded summer research internship hosted by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in South Korea. This program is designed for outstanding international undergraduate seniors and Master’s students, offering hands-on research experience in cutting-edge laboratories under the mentorship of GIST faculty. The eight-week summer program provides participants with the opportunity to explore advanced research, gain international academic exposure, and evaluate future graduate study opportunities at GIST.

Research fields available span a wide range of STEM disciplines, including Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Robotics, Environmental Science, Medical Science, and Biology. The program is administered by the Office of International and Public Affairs (IPA), which supports international students and scholars at GIST.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be international undergraduate seniors or Master’s students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.5 scale (or equivalent). Proof of English language proficiency is necessary, which can be demonstrated through a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or equivalent, a passport from an English-speaking country, or a certificate stating 'Medium of Instruction is English.' Applicants should also demonstrate a strong interest in research and advanced studies.
