About this position
This fully funded PhD investigates how artificial intelligence can support fetal growth monitoring and improve pregnancy care. The project will use longitudinal ultrasound data to identify high-risk fetal growth trajectories, with the aim of enabling more informed monitoring and earlier recognition of pregnancies that may require additional clinical attention.
Based in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool, the project forms part of the MRC North West Doctoral Programme in Medical Sciences. The research sits at the intersection of medical science, artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning and biomedical analysis, offering an opportunity to develop methods for applying advanced computational techniques to clinically important ultrasound data.
The doctoral researcher will work on the analysis of fetal growth patterns over time and the development of AI approaches relevant to pregnancy care. The project provides a research environment combining doctoral training in medical sciences with interdisciplinary work across health, mathematics, science and engineering.
