Fully Funded PhD in Digital Platform Ecosystems, AI Platforms, and Innovation University of Passau in Germany

Carolin Häussler (Chair of Organisation, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, University of Passau) is recruiting a fully funded PhD candidate for the interdisciplinary Research Training Group Digital Platform Ecosystems, funded by the DFG / German Research Foundation.

The project focuses on digital platforms, AI platform ecosystems, digital platform governance, and how platform design shapes innovation activities in areas such as dataspaces and open source AI. The position is especially relevant for applicants with interests in business administration, economics, information systems, management, and related fields.

This is a part-time 75% TV-L E13 doctoral position with social security and healthcare contributions. The programme offers a structured path to complete the PhD in about three years, plus a fully funded research visit abroad, participation in international conferences, a research budget, and support from student research assistants.

Eligibility highlights: an excellent Master’s degree in business administration, economics, information systems, or a related field; strong interest in AI platform ecosystems and innovation; analytical skills; and ideally experience with empirical-quantitative research methods. Excellent English is required, and German is not required.
