About this position
Bocconi University offers a four-year full-time PhD program in Economics and Finance for highly qualified students seeking advanced research training and international academic careers.
The multidisciplinary program is organised across three curricula: Economics, Finance and Accounting. A shared core develops broad theoretical and empirical research skills, while advanced second-year courses and electives allow students to specialise. Students begin their first research paper in the second year, followed by extensive thesis research during the third and fourth years.
The program provides an active research environment through regular workshops featuring internationally renowned speakers. Bocconi faculty publish in leading international journals and participate extensively in the global academic community. Students can also undertake short visits to leading overseas universities and engage in international exchanges through the European Doctoral Group in Economics.
Research training is designed to support academic careers as well as opportunities in central banks, governments, international organisations, investment banks and asset management. The PhD School's tutors and career service support students' professional development and preparation for the international academic job market.
