Stockholm University is advertising a fully funded PhD position in International Relations within the project “Understanding Public Support for EU Enlargement.” The position is based at the Department of Economic History and International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, in Stockholm, Sweden.

The project examines how citizens perceive EU enlargement and the security, economic, and societal factors that shape public opinion across Europe. The research sits at the intersection of International Relations, EU enlargement, public opinion, political attitudes, European integration, international security, political economy, and quantitative social science research.

Funding: The PhD is fully funded for 4 years. The employment is a fixed-term doctoral studentship, and the role may include limited teaching, research, and administration duties (up to 20%).

Eligibility highlights: Applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent second-cycle qualification. Specific entry requirements include prior study in International Relations or an equivalent field, a completed second-cycle component with thesis work, additional relevant theoretical credits, strong English language skills, and demonstrated experience with quantitative methods.
