About this position
This fully funded PhD at NICHE Ulster will investigate how school meals contribute to children’s fish consumption in Northern Ireland. The interdisciplinary project connects public health nutrition, child health, food policy and sustainable seafood.
The research will examine the role of food insecurity in children’s access to and consumption of fish. It will also explore how schools could help support a more sustainable seafood sector. The findings are intended to generate evidence relevant to school food policy, public health strategies and the future of seafood consumption.
The doctoral researcher will work in collaboration with Seafish, an organisation supporting the UK seafood sector, and within the NICHE Ulster research environment at Ulster University. The project offers an opportunity to contribute to research at the intersection of nutrition, food insecurity, children’s health, school meals and sustainability.
