About this position

The Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences (GSN-LMU) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München offers a research-oriented doctoral programme in systemic neurosciences and closely related interdisciplinary areas. The programme is designed around a structured training environment with careful supervision, regular research discussions, and support from individual thesis advisory committees (TACs).

Research themes span multiple levels of neuroscience and its connections to other disciplines, including single cells to complex systems, system analysis to mathematical modelling, perception and cognition to mind and neurophilosophy, and biology to technical solutions. The programme is embedded in a network of collaborating research institutions, giving doctoral researchers access to a wider scientific environment beyond the graduate school itself.

Students are based in München and study in English within a full-time, six-semester PhD programme. The GraduateCenter provides additional support, and the graduate school highlights career advisory services, international-student support, and dedicated administrative assistance throughout the doctorate.
