About this position
The Thermal Sciences & Engineering Team in the Energy Sciences Division of the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory is offering an internship focused on high power composite thermal energy storage. The project centers on phase change composites with high thermal conductivity, an area aimed at advancing thermal management systems and energy storage technologies.
The internship is strongly interdisciplinary and combines modeling, fabrication, and testing. The selected student will work on exploring the thermal behavior of composite materials under different conditions and on synthesizing and fabricating materials using techniques such as nanomaterial integration, additive manufacturing, photolithography, and advanced machining.
Research is carried out within ARL’s broader research environment, where scientists and engineers collaborate across multiple disciplines to address Army-relevant science and technology challenges. The advertised work connects materials discovery and composite development with practical use cases in thermal systems and energy storage, and it is framed as part of ARL’s mission in energy sciences and disruptive science and technology development.
Participants will collaborate with ARL researchers and engage with a wider research community while contributing to the development of new materials and composites for advanced thermal applications.
