About this position

?? I’m super proud to announce that, as of October 1st, I officially started my new position as SNSF Professor at the University of Zurich! ??? I am excited about the fantastic research ahead, and a special thanks to my incredible research group - Jessy Duran Ramirez, Bashkim Jaha, and Anna Bot ?? ?? Now, we are hiring a new PhD student to join our research group!??The project focuses on developing mathematical and phylogenetic models to tackle public health challenges in infectious disease control, with a particular focus on optimizing prevention strategies for the HIV epidemic in Switzerland and Europe.?? Key topics include:- Understanding cross-border transmission using phylogenetic methods- Simulating the impact of migration, travel, human behavior, and medical advances on HIV transmission dynamics using mathematical modeling techniques?? Your responsibilities:- Handling and analyzing large datasets (e.g. clinical, longitudinal cohort, HIV sequence)- Applying phylogenetic methods to large HIV sequence databases- Integrating diverse data into large compartmental models (SIR-type)- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and contributing to high-impact publications?? Your profile:- Master’s in Mathematics, Physics, Computational Biology, Epidemiology, Data Science, or related fields- Proven experience with data analysis (R or Python preferred)- Strong interest in phylogenetic and mathematical modeling, with a passion for infectious disease dynamics?? We offer a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment, competitive salaries, and opportunities for professional development.??
