About this position

Radboud University is offering a junior academic position in criminal law within the Faculty of Law, where the successful candidate will combine teaching with research and have the opportunity to start a doctoral trajectory.

The role sits in the Strafrecht & Criminologie section and focuses especially on general criminal and criminal procedural law. The junior docent will contribute to teaching in the Bachelor of Laws programme, including seminar teaching, assessing essay assignments, and supervising and evaluating bachelor’s and master’s theses.

Alongside teaching, the position is designed for someone who wants to develop as a researcher. The post includes research time and encourages the development of a PhD project, with room to build experience in academic legal research. A draft research proposal is specifically welcomed.

The broader academic environment is the research centre Staat en Recht (SteR), which connects doctrinal legal scholarship with empirical, sociological, and philosophical approaches. The section’s research spans substantive and procedural criminal law, penitentiary law, and criminology, and is embedded in a faculty known for close links with legal practice and for multidisciplinary public-law research.

This is therefore a hybrid teaching-and-research post for an early-career legal scholar who wants to deepen expertise in criminal law while contributing to an active Dutch research and teaching environment.
