About this position

The University of Inland Norway is inviting applications for its English-taught Master in Applied Ecology, located at Campus Evenstad, Norway. This two-year, full-time program (120 ECTS) immerses students in the sustainable management of natural resources, focusing on applied ecology, wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. The curriculum combines theory and practice, equipping students with scientific tools to understand and manage ecosystems sustainably. The program is designed for international students and fosters a vibrant academic community with opportunities for social and outdoor activities.

Students will study topics such as biological processes, wildlife monitoring, ecosystem management, and the complex relationships between wildlife populations and humans. Graduates are prepared for careers as research assistants, environmental managers, doctoral students, and roles in public and private sectors related to ecology and conservation. The program encourages international exchange, allowing students to study abroad or work with external supervisors for their master’s thesis.

Admission requirements include a recognized bachelor’s degree with a minimum average grade of C, at least 80 ECTS credits in relevant subjects (including statistics and applied ecology-related fields), and proof of English proficiency for non-native speakers. Non-EU/EEA applicants must submit a motivation letter. Tuition fees are NOK 68,500 per year for non-EU/EEA/EFTA students, with proof of funding required. EU/EEA/EFTA students are exempt from tuition fees but must pay a semester fee. Application deadlines are December 1, 2025, for non-EU/EEA applicants and April 15, 2026, for EU/EEA applicants. The application portal opens November 1 for non-EU/EEA and February 1 for EU/EEA applicants.

For more information, contact International Coordinator Heidi Braadland at [email protected]. The program is coordinated by Ane Eriksen and Heidi Braadland. Further details and application instructions are available on the university website.
