About this position
The Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Waterloo is offering postdoctoral fellowships in theoretical astroparticle physics and cosmology through the McDonald Institute Theory Fellowship and McDonald Institute CITA Theory Fellowship streams.
The fellowship is designed for researchers interested in cosmological and astrophysical probes of neutrino mass and dark matter, with connections to major surveys and experiments such as DESI, Euclid, Roman, SNO+, DarkSide-20k, SuperCDMS and XLZD. The advertised research directions include tensions between cosmological and laboratory constraints on neutrino mass, implications for neutrinoless double-beta decay searches, the local dark-matter phase-space distribution and its impact on direct detection, and tests of dark matter and cosmic growth using galaxy surveys, weak lensing and peculiar velocities.
The successful fellow will be based in the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and expected to collaborate with multiple WCA research groups as well as the experimental astroparticle community of the McDonald Institute. The centre brings together faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students working across theoretical, computational and observational astrophysics and cosmology, and participates in major cosmological surveys.
Named researchers associated with the opportunity include Niayesh Afshordi, Mike Hudson, Will Percival and James Taylor.
The position offers a two-year appointment with the possibility of a third year subject to funding, together with salary, benefits, and research and travel support.
