Simon Fraser University is recruiting MSc and PhD students for a new research group led by Assistant Professor Xinyue Xu, focusing on Geochemistry and Economic Geology for the Fall 2026 intake. The group investigates fundamental processes of metal transport and concentration in magmatic-hydrothermal systems, utilizing state-of-the-art experimental and analytical facilities, including a confocal Raman spectrometer and specialized apparatus for melt-fluid inclusion studies and high-pressure-temperature experiments. Research topics include ore-forming fluids, critical metal geochemistry (rare earth elements and rare metals), and experimental petrology. Students will benefit from full financial support, advanced training, and a collaborative environment with international teams from academia, government, and industry.
