Multiple Fully Funded PhD Positions are available for Fall 2026 in the Smart Grid Power Systems (SPS) Lab at the University of South Florida.

The lab, led by Prof. Lingling Fan, is recruiting outstanding PhD students interested in modern power systems and inverter-based resources. Research topics include power system modeling, simulation, stability analysis, data-driven modeling, analytics, software tool development, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, control prototyping, and digital twin applications.

Applicants should have an M.S. in Electrical Engineering completed or expected before enrollment. A background in power systems, controls, hardware, and/or programming is preferred, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
