About this position
The Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship for 2026 is a prestigious opportunity for early-career researchers across the globe to conduct postdoctoral research at one of China's leading universities. Up to 380 fellowships will be awarded, supporting research in a wide range of academic fields including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, economics, business, information technology, engineering, and interdisciplinary studies. The fellowship is open to outstanding researchers of any nationality who are under 35 years old and have obtained their PhD within the past three years by the application deadline. Registered postdocs at Peking University may also apply if their contract does not exceed six months from the commence/expiring date.
Each fellowship provides an annual pre-tax salary of 200,000 RMB, social insurances, housing allowances, and other benefits. An additional 60,000 RMB subsidy is available for those without access to postdoctoral housing, and supervisors may offer an extra subsidy of 30,000, 60,000, or 90,000 RMB per year based on academic potential and performance. The fellowship lasts for 24 months and offers promotion opportunities for senior research positions within the postdoc track at Peking University.
Applicants must prepare all application documents in Chinese or English, including an application form, an explicit endorsement letter from a Peking University faculty member (who will serve as the postdoctoral supervisor), two recommendation letters (one from the doctoral advisor), and a detailed research proposal. Selection is based on academic background, research excellence, the quality and synergy of the proposed research project with Peking University, strength of recommendations, and supervisor commitment.
The application process requires candidates to identify and contact a Peking University faculty member to serve as their supervisor and obtain their written endorsement. All documents should be compiled into a single PDF and submitted via email to the relevant coordinator listed for the chosen department. The first round deadline is February 28, 2026, and the second round deadline is October 10, 2026. For more information and to find faculty members, visit the official Peking University website.
