The Danish Data Science Academy (DDSA) is offering competitive PhD and postdoctoral fellowships for visionary and ambitious young data scientists interested in pursuing independent research projects in Denmark. These fellowships are open to candidates from any field of data science, including but not limited to algorithms, artificial intelligence, distributed systems, mobile and edge computing, cyber-physical systems security, machine learning, statistics, bioinformatics, and computational sciences. Projects may be theoretical or applied, and interdisciplinary or collaborative proposals are encouraged.

For the postdoc fellowship, applicants must hold a PhD or have their thesis accepted for defense before June 1, 2026, and must have received their PhD no more than six years prior to the application deadline, with allowances for parental leave. For the PhD fellowship, applicants must be eligible for a Danish PhD programme (3+5, 4+4, or 5+3 models) and have a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree. All applicants must demonstrate high-level proficiency in English, submit a well-defined research proposal, and secure an agreement with a principal supervisor at a Danish university. The host institution must provide a statement of support and commit to appropriate work conditions.

Funding for postdoc fellowships is DKK 1,300,000 (+5% administrative costs) for two years, and for PhD fellowships DKK 1,900,000 (+5% administrative costs) for three years. The funding covers salary and research expenses. Industrial positions and co-funding are not supported. All projects must align with the research scope of the Novo Nordisk Foundation and/or VILLUM FONDEN, focusing on the development of new data science methods or their application to areas such as life sciences, health, sustainability, and technical or natural sciences.
