PhD and Postdoc positions in Sustainable Software Engineering / AI/ML are open at the University of Mannheim in Germany, in the Sustainable Software Engineering Group led by Prof. Pooja Rani.

The group is recruiting for two full-time positions (TV-L 13, 100%):
- PhD Position in Sustainable Software Engineering
- Postdoctoral Position in AI/ML for Sustainable Software Engineering

Research themes include software sustainability, green software engineering, AI/ML for software engineering, software performance optimization, source code analysis, software evolution, software architecture, code generation, energy-efficient code, sustainable deployment, and measuring energy consumption on controlled servers. The postdoctoral role also includes co-supervision of PhD and MSc/BSc students and contribution to funding proposals.

Eligibility highlights: the PhD role asks for an MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, or a closely related field; the postdoc role asks for a PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Both roles require strong programming skills, practical experience with machine learning frameworks, excellent English, and strong research motivation. Experience with large-scale or HPC experimentation is a strong plus.
