PhD Assistant in Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation Ghent University in Belgium

Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a PhD assistant position in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. This role is designed for candidates interested in academic research and teaching, with at least 50% of the assignment dedicated to preparing a doctoral dissertation in the field of taxation. The position also involves assisting with teaching activities in Dutch and supporting both internal and external departmental services.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Economics, Business Engineering, Business Administration, Complementary Studies in Business Economics, or an equivalent qualification by the start of the appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to present in Dutch. Teaching experience or participation in extra training and conferences is recommended. For foreign diplomas in languages other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a translation must be provided.

The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal twice for two years each, subject to positive evaluation, and a maximum term of six years according to the Codex of Higher Education. The position starts on 1 September 2026 at the earliest.
