PhD Graduate Research Assistantship in Halal Industry: AI, IoT, Blockchain, Shariah Compliance International Islamic University Malaysia in Malaysia

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated PhD candidate to join a cutting-edge research project in the Halal industry at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in collaboration with UPM and UTP. The research focuses on the development and validation of AI-assisted halal compliance, IoT-enabled traceability, blockchain integrity systems, and Shariah-aligned workflow validation. The project is part of the prestigious MOHE Research Excellence Consortium Grant under the H-TRUST platform, aiming to advance Malaysia’s Halal Tech sector.

The successful candidate will work as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) and contribute to a national agenda, developing key components for a future national Halal AI-IoT-Blockchain compliance framework. The position offers a monthly stipend of RM3000 and is fully funded for two years, starting January 2026. Applicants must have a Master’s by Research in Islamic Studies, Shariah, Fiqh, Halal Studies, or related fields, and demonstrate strong motivation, independence, and research commitment.
