About this position

Open PhD position at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Facultad de Ciencias y Tecnologías Químicas, UCLM) in Chemistry, focused on sustainable catalytic conversion of CO2 into value-added chemicals and functional materials.

The project is hosted by the Organometallic and Sustainable Catalysis Group (ORCATS) and centers on the design of novel catalytic systems based on earth-abundant metals. Research topics include CO2 functionalization, reductive conversion into useful molecular building blocks, mechanistic studies, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and the synthesis of biodegradable polymers with tailored optical properties.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Agustín Lara Sánchez and Dr. Felipe de la Cruz Martínez within the PhD program in Chemistry, with research activities based at the Ciudad Real campus. The start date is stated as September 2026 (flexible).

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have, or be close to completing, an MSc in Chemistry. Strong interest in research, creativity, and the ability to work independently and in a team are expected. Experience in organometallic synthesis and/or homogeneous catalysis is an advantage.

How to apply: email your application to [email protected] and [email protected] with the subject line “PhD position”. Include a brief CV and transcript of academic records. Deadline: 30 June 2026 (or until a selected candidate is found).
