PhD in Climate Change, Bioaerosols, and Public Health at University of York University of York in United Kingdom

A fully funded PhD position is available at the University of York, focusing on the intersection of climate change, bioaerosols, and public health. The project, part of the ACCE+ Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP), aims to investigate how climate change is altering the dynamics of bioaerosol exposure—airborne biological particles such as pollen, fungi, bacteria, and viruses that impact both environmental and human health. The research will explore how changes in temperature, humidity, and extreme weather events affect the concentration, composition, and spread of bioaerosols.

The successful candidate will develop exposure models and risk maps to inform public health and environmental policy. The supervisory team includes Darpan Das and Nicola Carslaw (University of York), Emma Marczylo (UK Health Security Agency), and Pippa Douglas (Environment Agency), offering a unique interdisciplinary and collaborative environment. Students will gain experience in atmospheric and climate data modelling, predictive exposure and risk assessment, GIS and statistical analysis, as well as field sampling and laboratory techniques.
