The project is titled Multisensory Prosody in Spoken European Portuguese and focuses on how prominence and grouping are realized across speech, facial movements, head movements, manual gestures, and hand pressure signals. The successful candidate will work on controlled production experiments and multimodal corpora, combining acoustic analysis, kinematic analysis, linguistic annotation, and three-dimensional motion capture. The dissertation is expected to be article-based, with three to four publishable papers.

This is a fully funded PhD position for four years. The post includes a competitive salary, full tuition coverage for the doctoral degree at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the University of Lisbon, full social security coverage, and funding for conference travel, international research visits, and specialized training.

The PhD will be carried out under a cotutelle agreement between the University of Lisbon and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Supervision is by Pilar Prieto (ICREA–Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Sónia Frota (University of Lisbon), and Marisa Cruz (University of Lisbon), with additional methodological support from ERC-funded postdoctoral researchers.
