About this position

PhD opportunity at Inria, France in privacy risk assessment and enforcement in agentic AI systems.

The PhD will be hosted by Inria within the PRIVATICS team in Lyon, with close collaboration with CNRS/LIRIS Lyon and Inria Lille (MAGNET Team). The project is funded by INESIA’s initiative on the evaluation of AI.

Research focus: privacy and security for LLM-based agentic AI and multi-agent systems. The project studies how sensitive information is collected, transformed, transmitted, and exposed across agent workflows, including client-side user inputs and server-side agent/tool interactions.

Topics include: privacy risk assessment of user data, sensitive data-flow analysis, action-plan risk analysis, black-box auditing, privacy attacks, privacy-enhancing technologies, secure agent execution, and empirical evaluation of privacy/utility/performance trade-offs.

Candidate profile: strong programming skills (preferably Python), analytical ability, background in machine learning, computer security, privacy, distributed systems, or related areas. Experience or interest in LLMs, agentic AI, privacy-enhancing technologies, or information-flow analysis is a plus. Good English is required; basic French is listed.

Funding: 2300 euros gross per month, plus benefits such as subsidized meals, transport reimbursement, leave, teleworking options, and social security coverage under conditions.
