Uppsala University is hiring a fully funded PhD student in secure control systems, cyber-physical systems security, and control theory within the EU-funded MSCA Doctoral Network SecReSy4You.
The position is hosted at the Department of Information Technology and the student will join the Secure Learning and Control Laboratory, an interdisciplinary group working at the intersection of cybersecurity, automatic control, systems theory, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The project focuses on developing new theories and methods for secure and resilient control systems under uncertainty and realistic adversaries, including trade-offs between nominal performance, resilience, and uncertainty.
This is one of 10 PhD positions in the SecReSy4You network, which connects leading universities and companies across Europe. The role includes research collaboration, publications in top journals and conferences, network events, and transnational academic/industrial secondments. Research visits abroad of up to 6 months are part of the programme.
Funding: The position is fully funded under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. It includes a competitive salary, mobility allowance, and family allowance if applicable. The advertised gross salary is about 37,000 SEK/month (before taxes, without family allowance), with a regular doctoral contract for the remaining period and a salary increment of 1,800 SEK/month.
Eligibility highlights: Applicants should have a Master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering, engineering physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a closely related field; very good academic performance; strong knowledge of control and systems theory; programming skills; a high-quality MSc thesis or equivalent writing sample; and excellent English. MSCA mobility rules apply: applicants must not have lived or worked in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years before recruitment, and must not already hold a PhD or be enrolled in a doctoral programme.
