About this position
This part-time, practice-based PhD at Aston University investigates longitudinal changes in the ocular surface and tear film, with a particular focus on dry eye disease in both adults and children. The project is designed for candidates in routine eyecare practice and can be completed over up to six years, with much of the research conducted remotely. Financial support includes a full waiver of Home tuition fees. Overseas applicants are welcome but must cover the difference between Home and Overseas tuition fees (currently £17,712 for 2026/7). No stipend or consumables are provided; the candidate's practice must supply standard clinical materials and ideally have equipment for objective tear film measurement.
Applicants should hold, or expect to achieve, a First or Upper Second Class undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, or a Merit or above in a relevant postgraduate Masters plus an undergraduate degree. English language proficiency is required.
