PhD Position in Climate Finance, Low-Carbon Infrastructure, and Policy at HKUST Guangzhou Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) in China

The Climate Infrastructure & Finance (CIF) group at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is recruiting for a fully funded PhD position. Led by Assistant Professor Anurag Gumber, the group focuses on interdisciplinary research in climate finance, low-carbon infrastructure, technology innovation, and policy. The research areas include cross-border financial flows and carbon border adjustment mechanisms, with opportunities to work on impactful projects related to energy finance, banking, institutional investors, risk management, and low-carbon technology innovation.

International students are highly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of five current PhD students and receive training to lead independent research. The position is based full-time at HKUST Guangzhou, offering a vibrant academic environment and access to resources for cutting-edge research.

Funding includes a postgraduate studentship of RMB 15,000 per month, with additional financial support for data collection, procurement, and attendance at international conferences.
