PhD position available at Oakland University in limnology, aquatic ecology, organismal physiology, biogeochemistry, and biological stoichiometry. The position is in the Wagner Lab, led by Nicole Wagner (Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences), and focuses on how changing aquatic ecosystems affect organisms and ecosystem processes.

The lab studies the links between physiology, community interactions, and biogeochemical cycling using an atom-to-ecosystem approach. Research methods include field observations, high-frequency sensor data, and experimental manipulations. Potential projects may examine how environmental change affects phytoplankton physiology and community structure, and how these changes influence nutrient cycling in whole ecosystems.

The successful applicant will join the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. program at Oakland University. Funding includes a graduate teaching assistantship with a competitive stipend and a full tuition waiver.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field is preferred; strong candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may also be considered. Interest in aquatic ecology, organismal physiology, or biogeochemistry is important. Experience with fieldwork, data analysis, or programming (e.g., R) is an advantage but not required.
