The University of California, Riverside's Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department is offering a PhD position focused on experimental research in non-exhaust emissions measurement and chemical characterization from mobile sources. Research activities include designing and implementing sampling systems for in-use vehicle emissions testing, collecting and analyzing data on brake-wear and tire-wear emissions, and performing chemical analysis using chromatographic techniques and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with EDX detectors. The candidate will also conduct comprehensive data analysis using statistical models and contribute to scientific publications. Applicants should have a background in Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, with experience in air quality, combustion, laboratory work, and familiarity with real-time particle equipment or chromatographic methods.
