The Konstanz Research School Chemical Biology (KoRS-CB) is recruiting 20 new doctoral researchers as part of the CRC 1756, an interdisciplinary collaborative research centre funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) and Austrian Science Fund (FWF). These PhD positions are available at the University of Konstanz (Germany) and the University of Vienna (Austria), offering a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of chemical biology, biophysics, and computational chemistry.

Projects within CRC 1756 focus on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of generation, sensing, and cellular responses to chemical and physical triggers. Research areas include chemical biology, biophysics, structural biology, computational chemistry, microbiology, and photochemistry. Doctoral researchers will automatically become part of KoRS-CB, benefiting from a vibrant interdisciplinary environment and advanced training opportunities.

Example projects include the development of chemical tools for targeting bacterial effector proteins, structural studies of mechanosensing by protein kinases, molecular simulation and machine learning approaches to protein dynamics, and the creation of chemical-biology tools for studying hydrogen sulfide and nitric oxide signaling. Supervisors include leading academics such as Prof. Thomas Böttcher, Prof. Dr. Olga Mayans, Prof. Dr. Christine Peter, Prof. Dr. Valentin Wittmann, Prof. Dr. David Schleheck, and T.T. Prof. Dr. Cui Wang.

Applicants should hold a relevant Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, and have experience in laboratory or computational techniques relevant to their chosen project. Proficiency in English is required. Funding is provided according to the collective bargaining agreements of the host institutions, ensuring a fully funded PhD experience with salary and benefits.
