About this position

Ghent University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Social Work, focusing on the comparative evaluation of community-based health care initiatives and programmes in Ukraine. This position is based in the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy. The role is funded for 18 months at a 55% employment rate, with remuneration according to the PD1 to PD4 salary scale for doctoral degree holders. The contract includes a range of staff benefits such as training opportunities, generous holiday leave, bicycle allowance, and eco vouchers.

The successful candidate will work at the request of Enabel Belgium and Enabel Ukraine, conducting a comprehensive evaluation of community-based health care programmes in Ukraine. Responsibilities include designing and implementing the study, developing research instruments, collecting and analyzing data, reporting findings, and disseminating results. The researcher will collaborate closely with local partners in both Belgium and Ukraine to assess programme implementation, outcomes, and contextual factors, ultimately providing recommendations for the Ukrainian healthcare system.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Social Work and demonstrate experience with research in conflict or war-affected settings, preferably in Ukraine or neighboring countries. A basic knowledge of Ukrainian and a good command of English are required. Candidates should have proven expertise in intervention evaluation, scientific publication, and dissemination processes, as evidenced in their CV. If the required diploma is in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a translation must be provided.

Ghent University is committed to equal opportunities and diversity, encouraging all qualified candidates to apply. The application process is strictly online via the university's e-recruitment system. Required documents include a CV (with a list of scientific publications), a cover letter, and a diploma transcript, all in PDF format.
