About this position

Ghent University is recruiting a post-doctoral assistant in the Department of Marketing, Innovation and Organisation (EB23) within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The appointment is a temporary 80% position with one opening, based in Ghent, Belgium.

The post is research-intensive: at least 70% of the assignment is devoted to academic research, alongside teaching support at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. The successful candidate will also supervise Master’s students in exercises, work placement, and dissertation work, and will counsel doctoral students.

The research profile sought is highly specific. Applicants should have a doctoral degree, preferably in business economics or an equivalent discipline, and should already have conducted research on wellbeing in the context of entrepreneurship. The department is looking for a promising researcher with a strong academic trajectory and an interest in mentoring students across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Advanced Master’s programmes. Publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals are considered a plus.

Ghent University offers a temporary appointment of three years, with the possibility of a second three-year appointment after favourable evaluation. The earliest start date is 1 January 2027. Salary is according to scale AAP5, and staff benefits include training and education opportunities, paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, and ecocheques.

Applicants must apply online via the university e-recruitment system by 22 September 2026 at 23:59 Brussels time. Required documents include a CV with publication overview, a cover letter, and a diploma transcript; candidates with non-EU diplomas must provide or prove application for a NARIC certificate of equivalence. For further information, prospective applicants may contact Prof. Petra Andries at [email protected].
