The role is a full-time, temporary appointment for two years, with the possibility of extension up to three years based on performance and faculty approval. The position is ideal for candidates with a strong academic background in business economics, law, or both, and a research focus on taxation.
At least 70% of the assignment will be dedicated to academic research in the business economics field of taxation. The successful candidate will also assist in guiding Master’s dissertations, supervise doctoral students, and provide educational support for tax-related courses in Business Administration and Business Economics. These courses are delivered in Dutch, so proficiency in the language is advantageous.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Business Economics, Law, or both. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should have conducted research in taxation, preferably at the intersection of law and business economics, and possess relevant scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in teaching tax-related courses, presenting research at international conferences, and maintaining an international network in taxation research is expected. A strong network within national and international tax practice is considered an asset, and international mobility is recommended.
The position offers remuneration according to salary scale AAP5, along with a comprehensive benefits package including 36 days of paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and access to a wide range of training and education opportunities. Ghent University is committed to equal opportunities and diversity, encouraging all qualified candidates to apply.
Applications must be submitted online via the Ghent University e-recruitment system by 2 June 2026. Required documents include a CV and publication list (merged into one PDF), cover letter, diploma transcript, and certificate of equivalence if applicable.
