About this position

This postdoctoral fellowship is hosted by ISAE-ENSMA within the ENDO team of the Pprime laboratory (UPR CNRS 3346). It is part of the AnoHona PRC project, a wider collaborative effort involving French laboratories and the University of La Plata in Argentina. The project focuses on advanced nonlinear homogenization for structural analysis and aims to improve the way microstructural variability is represented in structural calculations.

The position is centered on an SFRP injected industrial demonstrator and on the development of a software-oriented chain linking MFront with Abaqus. The fellow will prepare and run finite element simulations, evaluate their performance, and support the transfer of the project’s homogenization methods into a structural calculation environment. The work progresses through increasing levels of complexity, beginning with homogeneous macroscopic assumptions and moving toward more detailed representations of orientation-family effects and real heterogeneity in the demonstrator.

The research environment combines structural mechanics, computational modelling, and materials behaviour under coupled conditions. A later part of the work will exploit a homogenization approach developed in the project to address thermo-hygro-viscoelastic coupling, with results compared against representative cyclic test data. The fellow will also contribute to reusable documentation by writing tutorials and unit tests that explain each calculation configuration and show how the developments can be extended by users.

What's required

Engineering or Master’s degree in Mechanics followed by a PhD thesis in mechanics of materials is required. The doctoral thesis must have been obtained less than 3 years ago. Candidates should have a strong interest in programming and structural analysis, with desired experience in modeling in non-linear mechanics and structural calculations. Good English is essential and good French is requested; skills in homogenization would be an undeniable asset.
