Post-doctoral position in drug development at Turku Finland University of Turku in Finland

A post-doctoral position in drug development is available in the laboratory of Professor Jukka Westermarck at the Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku, Finland. The Turku Bioscience Centre is a leading research facility with distinguished research groups and excellent core services, situated within a vibrant biomedical campus that hosts over 100 research groups, including a strong cancer research community. The research project focuses on evaluating the therapeutic potential of targeting the PP2A inhibitor protein CIP2A. Recent advancements have opened exciting opportunities for direct targeting of CIP2A, and the group is seeking a highly motivated senior postdoctoral fellow with solid experience in structural biology and small molecule targeting to explore these novel findings.

Obligatory candidate requirements include a PhD with postdoctoral experience, hands-on expertise in protein chemistry and interaction technologies, a first author publication related to structural biology in a high-quality journal, and a publication on phosphoproteome signaling and/or phosphatases. Strong team-working and communication skills are essential. Preferred technical competencies include experience with cancer cell culture methods, small molecule targeting, and a solid understanding of CIP2A/PP2A biology. Eligibility requirements are defined in the University of Turku's regulations.

The position is available starting from August 10, 2026, or later by agreement, with funding secured until April 30, 2030. The salary is determined by the university salary system and will be on average 3700–4100 euros/month, depending on experience and skills. A six-month trial period applies.
