About this position
The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in environmental microbiology to contribute to cutting-edge work on the biodegradation and biotransformation of environmental pollutants.
The project is centered on understanding transformation pathways that drive the degradation of legacy and emerging contaminants, including PFAS, plastics, and 1,4-dioxane. The appointed researcher will use advanced analytical approaches such as LC/MS/MS and HRMS alongside bacterial cultivation and isolation to investigate these processes in detail.
The position also involves collaborative work on bench-scale bioreactors and other biological treatment systems, connecting microbial science with environmental remediation and pollutant treatment. The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary research environment at NJIT and be part of a team focused on impactful publication and sustainability-oriented science.
This role is hosted in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science and reports to Dr. Mengyan Li.
