About this position
This postdoctoral position at the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, Institute of Theoretical Physics, is part of the project 'Ultracold Polar Molecules for Quantum Technologies,' funded by the Foundation for Polish Science within the First Team FENG program. The research aims to develop and optimize innovative methods for utilizing new ultracold, strongly polar, and magnetic molecules in optical tweezers and lattices, with the goal of realizing a new generation of ultracold molecular qubits and two-qubit quantum gates. The project will begin with a thorough investigation of the structure and quantum control capabilities of the proposed molecules, followed by the development of optimal methods for encoding qubit states. The next stage focuses on designing two-qubit gates based on strong dipole interactions and controlling molecules with optical tweezers.
The final stage will assess the proposed molecular quantum computer architecture for real-world quantum computing applications, quantum simulations, and precision measurements. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Michał Tomza, the main contractor, and will be expected to contribute theoretical expertise in quantum dynamics and control, as well as programming skills.
The position is for 36 months, full-time, and offers paid leave, social benefits, and access to university sports facilities. Applicants must have a PhD in physics or related sciences (not from the University of Warsaw), awarded within the last seven years (with possible extensions for parental or sick leave), significant scientific achievements, international experience, and a plan for further research. Excellent English proficiency is required.

Excellent English proficiency is required. The University of Warsaw must be the primary workplace if hired. Candidates must meet the conditions specified in Article 113 of the Polish Higher Education Law.
