About this position
Postdoc opportunity at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Plasma & Materials Processing group, focused on atomic-scale processing for future chips and energy technologies.
The position is part of a broader research effort in atomic layer deposition (ALD) and related thin-film processing, with three main directions: ALD for photonic integration, agentic AI for ALD, and ALD for next-generation energy storage technologies. The work spans photonics, semiconductor processing, energy materials, and data-driven experimentation.
You will work in a collaborative environment within TU/e’s semiconductor and nanomaterials ecosystem and contribute to scientific output, supervise PhD and MSc students, and collaborate with academic and industrial partners. The role is embedded in projects including the PhotonDelta NGF program and an EU Horizon project on agentic AI research assistance. The vacancy is also linked to an EU-funded project (EOSC Alssistant, H2020).
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in applied physics, materials science, electrical engineering, chemistry, or a comparable field; strong experience in thin-film deposition (ALD, CVD, PVD) and/or semiconductor processing; AI/ML experience for the AI-focused track; evidence of high-quality independent research; and excellent English communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Funding and conditions: fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years; salary €4,422–€5,760 gross per month (scale 10), plus 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus. TU/e also offers leave options, pension contributions, training, and relocation/international support.
Location: De Zaale, Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Deadline: 12 October 2026.
