About this position
Postdoc in Bayesian Networks for Environmental Health Research at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), National Food Institute in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
This postdoctoral project sits in the Research Group for Risk-Benefit and focuses on developing quantitative weight-of-evidence approaches using Bayesian networks for environmental burden of disease studies. The research aims to transparently integrate evidence from toxicology and epidemiology to assess the health impacts of environmental chemicals, with a case study on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
The position is part of the BurdenX project, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The project will develop probabilistic models and methods for integrating diverse evidence sources while explicitly accounting for uncertainty in the underlying evidence.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent. The ideal background includes statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, data science, machine learning, systems biology, quantitative epidemiology, quantitative risk assessment, or a related discipline. Experience with Bayesian methods—preferably Bayesian networks—is strongly preferred, along with interest in environmental health, toxicology, epidemiology, and risk assessment. Strong analytical skills, independence, structured working style, and excellent English communication are required.
Funding and terms: this is a full-time postdoctoral appointment for 2 years. Salary is according to the Danish collective agreement, with supplements negotiable under DTU’s salary structure. No stipend amount is stated.
How to apply: submit an online application via the Apply now portal. Upload one PDF containing a cover letter, CV, academic diplomas (MSc/PhD in English), a list of publications, and at least one representative publication relevant to the project. The deadline is 1 November 2026 (23:59 Danish time).
