About this position

Postdoctoral position at Aarhus University in the Interfaces and Catalysis group (Prof. Jeppe V. Lauritsen), Department of Chemistry, focused on catalytic N2O decomposition, surface science, near-ambient pressure microscopy, and spectroscopy.

The project investigates model catalysts for reducing nitrous oxide emissions, with emphasis on the relationship between surface structure, surface composition, and reactivity. The successful candidate will work with NAP-XPS and NAP-STM, synthesize model catalysts, operate advanced UHV and synchrotron-based equipment, and help plan and execute synchrotron beamtime. The role also includes co-supervision of PhD, MSc, and BSc students and collaboration with international partners.

Eligibility: a PhD degree and a relevant background in chemistry, physics, nanoscience, or a related discipline. Applicants should have experience with ultra-high vacuum equipment and experimental/data-analysis work using at least one, ideally both, of the near-ambient pressure techniques mentioned above.

Funding and duration: 18 months initially, with possible extension subject to additional funding. Salary and terms follow the Danish collective labour agreement; no specific stipend amount is listed.

Deadline: 30 October 2026. The expected start date is 1 February 2027.

How to apply: Submit the application in English via Aarhus University’s recruitment system. Required documents include a CV, degree certificate, publication list, research plan, research activity information, teaching portfolio, and verified teaching experience if applicable.
