About this position
Aalborg University is recruiting a Postdoc in Embodied AI and Robotic Perception with Wireless Communication and Sensing in the Department of Electronic Systems. The position sits in the Connectivity Section and is linked to research led by Professor Petar Popovski, Director of CLASSIQUE. The project is centered on embodied AI, robotic perception, machine learning, computer vision, wireless communication, and sensing, with a strong emphasis on multimodal learning and real-time intelligence.
The research theme explores how wireless-enabled physical AI systems such as robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, and distributed sensor platforms build representations of space, motion, and context through continuous interaction with the environment. The postdoc will work on fusing heterogeneous sensory streams including vision, LiDAR, inertial measurements, and radio signals, and on learning and decision-making architectures for robust perception and autonomous action in dynamic settings. The role also includes investigating how wireless networks such as 6G, WiFi, and satellite systems support distributed AI inference and how network constraints shape resilient intelligence.
Applicants should have a PhD in data science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematical engineering, or a related area. Strong experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, robotic perception, multimodal AI, or reinforcement learning is expected, along with solid mathematical and analytical skills and programming ability in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar tools. A publication record in major venues such as ICLR, ICRA, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, SIGGRAPH, or ICCV is highlighted as desirable.
The position is funded by the Villum Investigator Grant WATER and is offered as a full-time postdoc for 12 months. The appointment starts around 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The application deadline is 16 August 2026.
To apply, candidates must submit their application through Aalborg University’s recruitment system and include a motivation letter, CV, diplomas, publication list, and other supporting documents. The post is hosted by a dynamic international research environment in Aalborg, Denmark, with strong links to communication theory, networking, information theory, statistics, and quantum communication.
