About this position
Postdoc opportunity in epigenetics / epitranscriptomics at the Chinese Institute for Brain Research (CIBR), Beijing. The Koziol Lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in molecular biology or a related field to join an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research environment.
The project sits at the intersection of molecular biology, epigenetics, epitranscriptomics, and neurobiology. The successful candidate may work on questions such as how epigenetic or epitranscriptomic changes relate to memory in the brain, how RNA contributes to cell communication, and what molecular changes occur during ageing or neurodegeneration. The lab studies DNA and RNA modifications and their regulatory molecules, with a focus on fundamental biology and brain function.
The lab combines molecular biology, bioinformatics, and mass spectrometry to detect and characterize modifications that are not captured by conventional sequencing approaches. The team benefits from strong in-house core facilities including bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, instrumentation, FACS, imaging, and animal facilities, as well as a collaborative and dynamic research culture.
CIBR is described as a world-class institute with core funding, modern equipment, and strong administrative support. Practical assistance is available for housing, visas, and other personal matters. The position is full-time and based in Beijing, China.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD in a relevant field such as molecular biology, neurobiology, biology, medicine, biochemistry, or a related area; prior laboratory experience; motivation; teamwork; and willingness to supervise students. English is essential, while Chinese is not required. The lab expects the successful applicant to apply for postdoctoral funding before starting, with support and guidance provided.
Application is by email: send a cover letter, an English CV, and email contacts for two professional references to Dr Magdalena Koziol and Xue Liang. The deadline is 31 May 2027.
