About this position

AAU Energy at Aalborg University is hiring a Postdoc in Integrated Energy Systems and CO2 Hub Optimization for Smart Industrial Ecosystems. The position is part of the iGRIDS research group and focuses on the Port of Hirtshals case study, with research on sustainable, flexible, and sector-coupled energy systems.

The postdoctoral researcher will work on integrated energy systems, CO2 hub optimization, power system analysis, renewable energy integration, sector coupling, multi-energy system design, energy system optimization, scenario simulation, and techno-economic and environmental assessment. The role also includes developing digital models of the port energy system, analyzing electricity/heating/cooling/fuel data, and exploring business models, local energy markets, and green certificate schemes.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Strong analytical ability, independent research capability, and collaborative skills are expected. Experience with Python, MATLAB, EnergyPlan, DIgSILENT, co-simulation, or hardware-in-the-loop validation is desirable. Strong English proficiency is recommended (CEFR C1 / IELTS 6.5 or above).
