About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Linköping University, Sweden

This is a postdoctoral opening in neuroscience focused on the cerebellum, non-invasive brain stimulation, and functional neuroimaging. The project is based in Kajsa Igelström’s research group at the Division of Cell and Neurobiology, Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Linköping University.

The postdoc will work on a Swedish Research Council-funded project studying the role of the cerebellum in cognition and motor function using temporal interference stimulation (TIS) combined with fMRI at CMIV. The work includes protocol development, individualized stimulation modelling, data collection, analysis, publication, and supervision of PhD and Master’s students. The environment is highly interdisciplinary, with methods support from the IT’IS Foundation, TI Solutions in Zurich, and Princeton University.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree (or equivalent) awarded within the last three years, from a university other than Linköping University; background in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field; experience with human experimental research using fMRI or non-invasive brain stimulation; strong programming and statistics skills; excellent English. Swedish is an advantage but not required.

Funding: the position is fully funded by the Högbom-Cocozza Research Foundation, with a salary of SEK 43,000 per month. The foundation may also support 6–12 months abroad and an independent research grant of about SEK 500,000 before year three.

Application deadline: 30 November 2026. Apply through the university’s online portal and upload your publications and other required documents before the deadline.

A PhD in neuroscience, psychology, medicine, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field is required. Candidates should have documented experience with experimental human research using fMRI or non-invasive brain stimulation (e.g. TMS or tES), strong programming and data-analysis skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or R), good statistical knowledge, excellent spoken and written English, and experience independently planning studies from ethics approval to publication. Experience with both neuroimaging and brain stimulation, computational modelling of electric fields, cerebellar function, cognitive or social neuroscience, and neurodevelopmental conditions or motor coordination is an advantage. Swedish is helpful but not required.

How to apply

Apply via the university's online application portal by clicking the Apply button. Submit the application and required documents before 30 November 2026.
