About this position

Postdoc in Robust Trajectory Generation for Event-Based Drones at the Rainbow team, IRISA/Inria Rennes, France, with hiring by CNRS.

This postdoctoral project focuses on robotics, control, optimization, learning, computer vision for robotics, and event-based vision for aerial robots. The goal is to develop robust collision-avoidance and trajectory-generation methods for drones operating in cluttered environments, using neuromorphic/event cameras with microsecond temporal resolution and high dynamic range.

The work includes literature review, algorithmic design for offline and online trajectory generation, observability and robustness metrics, incorporation of air-traffic regulatory constraints, optimization- and learning-based perception/trajectory pipelines, prototyping in simulation, and experimental validation with project partners. The project is part of AVADA, a France 2030-funded initiative aiming to advance drone anti-collision technology from TRL 4 to TRL 7.

Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. in Robotics, Control, Optimization, Learning, Computer Vision for Robotics, or a related field; strong experience in optimization-based and/or learning-based motion generation for robots, especially drones; event-based vision knowledge is highly desirable; and good C++/Python skills.

Funding and conditions: full-time appointment for 1+1 years, with possible renewal after the first year. Salary follows CNRS postdoctoral salary regulations based on prior experience.

How to apply: submit an application via the provided form. The position remains open until a satisfactory candidate is found.
