About this position

PostDoc opportunity in chemistry at the University of Zurich

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Zurich is hiring a PostDoc for a collaborative project with Johnson & Johnson (Toledo, Spain) in the research group of Prof. Dr. Nina Hartrampf. The project focuses on late-stage functionalization of peptides and combines flow chemistry, photochemistry, and high-throughput experimentation.

The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment at the interface of modern chemistry methodology and automation. The role includes designing, synthesizing, and modifying amino acids, using them in peptide synthesis on a fully automated synthesis platform, and characterizing peptides with analytical techniques such as UHPLC, LCMS, and CD.

This is a PostDoc position at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, with an additional research visit to Johnson & Johnson in Toledo, Spain. The post is described as an 80% position and starts as soon as possible.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in chemistry and have expertise in peptide chemistry (SPPS) and synthetic organic chemistry. Experience in peptide late-stage functionalization, photochemistry, chemical engineering, or high-throughput experimentation is advantageous but not mandatory.

Application materials: motivation letter, CV, short summary of past research accomplishments, transcripts, copy of degree, and contact details of two referees. Submit all documents as a single PDF.

Deadline: June 5. Interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
